Softball Splits DH at Huntington

HUNTINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan softball and Huntington (Ind.) were finally able to play on Thursday after the games had been postponed on two occasions. Indiana Wesleyan won game two 3-1 to earn a doubleheader split on the road at Huntington.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Kaisey Carson led the game off with a home run to give the Wildcats the quick 1-0 lead.
  • Huntington responded in the home half of the 1st inning with three runs on two hits and two IWU errors.
  • Hannah Eiler scored on a Huntington error in the 5th inning as the Wildcats cut the HU lead in half at 4-2.
  • Indiana Wesleyan had two runners on in the final inning but left the tying run stranded on first base.
  • Kaisey Carson:  6.0 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, L;  2-for-4, HR, RBI
  • Alex Springer:  2-for-4
     

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Once again, Kaisey Carson led off the game with a home run for a 1-0 Wildcat lead.
  • Huntington tied the score 1-1 in the 2nd inning. They had three hits in the inning and left two on base.
  • The Wildcats plated the final two runs in the 4th inning, all with two outs. Victoria Boyer scored on an error and Kira Madl hit an RBI single to score Amber Roth for the 3-1 advantage.
  • Carlie Weaver:  7.0 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, W
  • Kaisey Carson:  1-for-3, HR
     

NEXT TIME OUT

  • Indiana Wesleyan hosts Taylor (Ind.) on Friday in the IWU-TU Rivalry Games sponsored by Marion General Hospital. Game one begins at 3 p.m. at Wildcat Field.
