MARION, Ind. -- Bob Peters made his final game in Luckey Arena a memorable one as he fired the game-winning 3-pointer that beat the buzzer and No. 15 Saint Francis (Ind.) 73-70 in the Crossroads League Tournament Semifinals. Jacob Johnson added a game-high 27 points as Indiana Wesleyan overcame a halftime deficit for the third time this season vs. Saint Francis.

• The Cougars led 33-32 at halftime. USF led all three games this season vs. IWU at the half.
• The game featured 8 ties and 12 lead changes with seven of the ties and 11 lead changes coming in the second half.
• USF’s Kyle Sovine hit a 3-point bucket with 38 seconds left to tie the game 70-70.
• Each team had possession of the ball with a chance to win the game. IWU missed a bucket with nine seconds on the clock. USF grabbed the rebound and raced down the court but IWU forced a tie up with 2.4 seconds left at the top of the USF key.
• IWU threw the inbounds pass past midcourt and called timeout with 1.9 seconds. Grant Evans threw the ball into Bob Peters who received the ball in front of the IWU bench. His contested and off balanced shot went through the rim as the buzzer sounded to set off a wild scene at Luckey as the student section stormed the court.

• “It was a special atmosphere today. We can’t thank our fans enough. When you win a one possession game it’s because the fans give you so much energy. Emotions are contagious within the team and with the fans. These last two games they have given us an advantage.”
   
• “You have to give our guys credit for execution down the stretch, not only to make the shot but to get the ball up past midcourt. And what can you say about Bob? He created 100-percent of that shot. It was a difficult shot. I’m happy for him. It was his moment and he took advantage of it.”

BOB PETERS SAYS…

• “It was a tough shot but my teammates gave me confidence. It’s one of the shots you practice in the backyard consistently over and over again and dream about in big games like this. I’m proud of this team and the effort they put in. Jacob Johnson had a big game. Lane Mahurin had a big game. It’s really exciting to get a chance at Bethel and that’s what we really want right now.”
   

NEXT TIME OUT

• Indiana Wesleyan and Bethel (Ind.) play for the Crossroads League Tournament Championship at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in Mishawaka, Indiana. There will be an IWU Student Fan Bus going to the game for the first 40 students to sign up in the Athletic Department office. The bus ride and ticket to the game will be free courtesy of IWU Athletics.
