MARION, Ind. -- No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan University men’s basketball overcame a nine point halftime deficit to win 109-100 in overtime in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals. Lane Mahurin flirted with a triple-double as the Wildcats scored 69 points in the final 25 minutes of the game.

• Huntington led 61-51 with 16 minutes remaining in the second half. IWU answered with 10 straight points to tie the game which was the start of a 26-9 run overall to lead 77-70 with 6:32 left in regulation.
• Mike Bush tied the game at 88 with 2.1 seconds left to force overtime.
• Indiana Wesleyan scored 12 of the first 14 points of overtime and Huntington would not get closer than eight points the rest of the period.
• Mike Bush led Huntington with 12 points and 4 assists on 6-of-9 shooting in the first half. Joel Okafor entered in the second half and was the main defender on Bush who was limited to 4 points and 3 assists on 1-of-5 shooting in the second half.

• “We’ve seen this before. There’s two sides to this coin. There’s disappointment in why don’t we come out and fight but then there’s a side that when our backs are to the wall this team fights and has an extra gear and some guts. Tonight, once again, our backs were against the wall and we came through in the clutch.”

On Joel Okafor impact after halftime…

• “Joel had two really good practices and really played well. We couldn’t guard Bush. They scored on their first six possessions of the second half. We put Joel in and we get 10 of 12 stops. Joel guarded the ball and kept it out of the lane. He had an attitude about his defense. Hats off to Joel for being ready.”
