Women?s Basketball Returns to League Play with Road Win

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Following a four week break from the Crossroads League schedule the Indiana Wesleyan University women’s basketball team jumped back into league play and won 64-51 at Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio). Chelsea Winner paced the Wildcats with 17 points and 8 rebounds as IWU improves to 5-0 in the Crossroads League.

  • Indiana Wesleyan secured the victory by going 8-of-10 from the foul line in the final 46 seconds after MVNU had cut the IWU lead to five points at 56-51.
  • Natalie Carpenter was the only Cougar to score in double figures with 20 points off the MVNU bench. The Cougars starting five combined for just 21 points on 9-of-26 shooting.
  • IWU dominated the glass with a 33-21 advantage. Chelsea Winner and Kelsey Key each contributed eight rebounds.
  • Indiana Wesleyan remains the only unbeaten team in Crossroads League play at 5-0. Marian (Ind.) and Taylor (Ind.) each stand at 4-1.

  • Indiana Wesleyan returns to Luckey Arena for the first time in 2017 this Saturday as part of a doubleheader vs. Bethel (Ind.). The women’s game tips off at 1 p.m. with the men to follow at approximately 3 p.m.
