MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University softball and Huntington (Ind.) battled in two one-run games on Friday with each team collecting a win at Wildcat Field. Allison Bexell (SR/Avon, Ind.) made a spectacular catch to end the second game and secure the IWU victory which left the tying run for Huntington stranded at third base.

What Went Down (Game 1)

• Huntington scored in each of the first two innings for the quick 3-0 lead.
• Allison Bexell had an RBI single in the 2nd inning and Alex Springer (SO/Fort Wayne, Ind.) homered in the 3rd inning to close the gap to 3-2.
• Huntington added another run in the 4th inning to go up 4-2.
• Kaisey Carson (JR/Avon, IN) tied the game at 4-4 in the 4th inning with a two-run double.
• Lacy Deitrick scored the game-winning run in the 6th inning when a Janessa Guevara (SR/Lathrop, Calif.) balk allowed her to score from third base.
• Indiana Wesleyan attempted a rally in the 7th inning and had runners on first and second base with one out. But Huntington got out of the jam with a pop out and fly out for the 5-4 final score.
• Kaisey Carson finished 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI while Gabby Bogear (SR/Sacramento, Calif.) was 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
  
   

What Went Down (Game 2)

• Kaisey Carson put the first run on the board in the 4th inning with a home run to left field.
• Indiana Wesleyan added a very important insurance run in the 6th inning to take a 2-0 lead. Kelsey Meyers (SR/Brea, Calif.) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded which allowed Kelsey Kooistra (SO/Grand Rapids, Mich.) to score.
• The Kooistra run turned out to be a huge play as Huntington plated a run in the 7th inning to cut the IWU lead in half at 2-1.
• With two outs and the tying run on third base, Alyssa Hiple hit a ball to shallow left center field. Allison Bexell raced a long way and made a diving catch to preserve the Indiana Wesleyan victory.
• Huntington outhit Indiana Wesleyan 9-4 in the game.
• Kasiey Carson earned the victory as she allowed one run on nine hits in 7.0 innings. She walked three and struck out four to improve to 8-1 on the season.

• Indiana Wesleyan will play their third doubleheader in three days as they travel to Fort Wayne on Saturday to play at Saint Francis (Ind.) with a 1 p.m. start time.
