UPLAND, Ind. -- No. 17 Indiana Wesleyan University used a 14-3 fourth quarter run to overcome a 9-point halftime deficit to win 63-56 against Taylor (Ind.) at Odle Arena in the IWU-TU Rivalry Game sponsored by Marion General Hospital. Taylor was limited to two second half field goals as Indiana Wesleyan won their 15th straight game in the Grant County rivalry.

What Went Down

• The first quarter was a low scoring affair as a Taylor bucket with 6 seconds left gave them a 10-8 lead.
• Taylor opened the second quarter with 11 of the first 16 points to grab a 21-13 lead.
• The Trojans scored the final four points of the half to take a 35-26 lead into halftime. The 9 point lead was the largest of the half.
• Indiana Wesleyan began the third quarter on a 10-2 run to close to within one at 37-36.
• Taylor headed into the fourth quarter leading 47-43.
• Chelsea Winner (JR/Maria Stein, Ohio) scored down low to tie the score 50-50 with 6:31 to play in the fourth quarter. Winner then hit one free throw on the next possession to give IWU a 51-50 advantage with 5:38 to play.
• IWU continued to dominate the fourth quarter as they scored 14 of the first 17 points in the fourth quarter for a 57-50 lead with 1:51 to go.
• Indiana Wesleyan outscored Taylor 20-9 in the fourth quarter.
• Carlee Cottrell (SR/West Bloomfield, Mich.) scored a game-best 21 points and was 8-of-10 from the free throw line. The 21 points is the second highest output of the season.
• Taylor shot 8.7-percent in the second half on just 2-of-23 shooting.
• TU’s Kendall Bradbury and Josie Cobb combined for 26 first half points. They scored just six points in the second half.
• Indiana Wesleyan outscored Taylor 26-10 in the paint.

•  “I am really proud of our kids. I’m proud of our perseverance. We got a lot of contributions from different players. And what can you say about how our seniors stepped up. Carlee was in foul trouble and played hard the whole game. I’m as proud of her in this game as I have been in any game she’s played in. She stayed focus and didn’t let anything rattle her.
