WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- A 21-2 run that spanned much of the first quarter was the difference on Saturday as No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan University women’s basketball earned a 68-50 road win at Cumberlands (Ky.). A stringent defensive effort by the Wildcats limited the Patriots to their second smallest point outage of the season.

• The difference in the game came in the first quarter as the Wildcats outscored the Patriots 25-11.
• Kelsey Key sank a pair of free throws for a 9-7 lead with 5:10 left in the first quarter. Those free throws gave IWU their first lead of the game and it was a lead they did not relinquish. The free throws came during a 21-2 Wildcat run that turned a 7-4 deficit into a 25-9 lead.
• The Indiana Wesleyan defensive effort limited Cumberlands to 31.3-percent (20 of 64) shooting and 9.5-pecent (2 of 21) shooting from 3-point range.
