Men?s Basketball Survives Goshen with Come-From-Behind Win

GOSHEN, Ind. -- Ben Carlson gained his first career double-double and No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan University men’s basketball trailed by as many as 11 points on Tuesday at Goshen (Ind.). Despite trailing for the first 30 minutes the Wildcats used a late 8-0 run to secure the 78-75 road win in Crossroads League play.

  • The Wildcats scored a season-low 78 points in the victory. The previous low was 83 points in a loss to then No. 8 Cornerstone (Mich.). IWU had scored 92 points or more in their last five games.
  • Goshen led the entire first half and built up a game-high lead of 11 points in the opening 20 minutes. Alhassan Barrie connected on an old-fashion 3-point play for a 37-26 lead with 4:09 left before halftime.
  • A Lane Mahurin bucket with 9:26 remaining in the game gave Indiana Wesleyan their first lead of the night at 59-58.
  • With the score tied 66-66, Indiana Wesleyan scored eight unanswered points to take a commanding 74-66 lead with 1:09 on the clock.
  • Ben Carlson earned his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, both career-highs. His previous highs were 14 points and 8 rebounds which came last year at Governor’s State (Ill.).
