Box Score MARION, Ind. -- Wednesday night featured the home opener and Crossroads League opener for Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball. Indiana Wesleyan defeated Spring Arbor (Mich.) 3-0 in Luckey Arena.
Indiana Wesleyan won the match by scores of 25-22, 25-16, 25-13. IWU has won five straight matches to improve to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in Crossroads League play.
“It’s always great to get a 1-0 start in the league to start building momentum,” said IWU head coach Candace Moats. “You gain confidence with that and you’re climbing a ladder so to get that win feels good.”
Spring Arbor (3-6, 0-1 CL) came out and dominated the early play in game as they built a 12-6 lead. But Indiana Wesleyan responded with 12 of the next 14 points to lead 18-14. Spring Arbor did not threaten Indiana Wesleyan the rest of the match.
“Spring Arbor came out with a lot of passion,” stated Moats. “They were really fired up and ready to go. So I give them a lot of credit to come out the way they did. It rocked us right away and the girls knew we had to step it up. They are a much improved team.”
