Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Friday featured a battle between the last two unbeaten teams in the Crossroads League and Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) defeated No. 16 Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball 3-1 in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Mount Vernon Nazarene won by scores of 28-30, 25-17, 25-19, 25-19 to improve to 13-0 overall this season and 6-0 in Crossroads League play. Indiana Wesleyan sees their nine match win streak snapped and is 11-3 overall and 4-1 in league play.
“We lost to a very strong Mount Vernon Nazarene program,” said Wildcat head coach Candace Moats. “The ladies played with all their hearts and fought well but we came up short. We look forward to learning from this and getting better.”
Morgan Miller (SO/Goshen, Ind.) and Bianca Cifaldi (JR/Itasca, Ill.) each finished with 15 kills while Kristin Predajna (SR/Fishers, Ind.) added nine kills. Emily Workman (SO/Tinley Park, Ill.) assisted on 30 Indiana Wesleyan attacks and Katey Holler (SR/Marion, Ohio) had 25. Ashlen Buck (JR/Brazil, Ind.) served the only Indiana Wesleyan ace.
The Wildcats amassed five blocks on Friday night. Remy Bucknor (JR/Euless, Texas) earned one solo block and two block assists while Cifaldi and Kylie Portera (JR/Lake in the Hills, Ill.) each had two block assists. Ashlen Buck ended the match with a career-high 38 digs.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to action tomorrow with a 4 p.m. start time at Taylor (Ind.) in Upland, Indiana.
