Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- No. 18 Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball had little trouble on Friday night in a 3-0 victory over Marian (Ind.) for their eighth consecutive victory.
Indiana Wesleyan traveled to Indianapolis and left with a 3-0 win by scores of 25-19, 25-18, 25-9. IWU is 10-2 overall and 3-0 in Crossroads League play while Marian drops to 2-2 on the year and 2-1 in league competition.
“I was so proud of the girls tonight and how they kept their poise in a very energetic and rowdy Marian crowd,” said Wildcat head coach Candace Moats. “The communication on the court was outstanding. We started slow and got behind but what I saw next made me proud and that was an attitude to refuse to lose. I really felt the girls were 15 players playing for one.”
The Wildcats featured a balanced offensive attack as six different players recorded four or more kills. Kristin Predajna (SR/Fishers, Ind.) earned a match-high nine kills in addition to a .467 attack percentage. Bianca Cifaldi (JR/Itasca, Ill.) finished with eight kills and an .800 attack percentage while Morgan Miller (SO/Goshen, Ind.) and Sarah Collicott (JR/West Lafayette, Ind.) each totaled seven kills. Kylie Portera (JR/Lake in the Hills, Ill.) had six kills and Remy Bucknor (JR/Euless, Texas) added four.
Katey Holler (SR/Marion, Ohio) assisted on 19 Wildcat kills and Emily Workman (SO/Tinley Park, Ill.) was credited with 15. The Wildcats served eight aces on Friday and were led in that category by Kelly Cypher (SR/Libertyville, Ill.) with five.
Portera had the only solo block for Indiana Wesleyan while Bucknor and Miller each had one block assist. Ashlen Buck (JR/Brazil, Ind.) collected 14 digs and Banner Rodgers (SO/Carrollton, Texas) contributed nine.
Indiana Wesleyan next plays at Saint Francis (Ind.) on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The Crossroads League match will be contested in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
