Box Score 2 ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- The No. 17-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball team won two matches on Friday during the first day of competition at the Northwestern Invitational in Orange City, Iowa.
Indiana Wesleyan defeated Doane (Neb.) and No. 25-ranked Dordt (Iowa) in a pair of three set victories. IWU improves to 4-2 on the season.
"Today was two solid team victories,” said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Candace Moats. “After last weekend we made some very solid changes and saw the strength of those changes come out in both of the matches. The girls really committed to communicate, pay attention to details, and really work together to make every piece of the chain a winning point. Although we had a great day, there is definitely room for improvement and I look forward to getting back on the court tomorrow to continue to see the growth that will develop as we play top 20 teams."
Indiana Wesleyan opened the four match weekend with a 3-0 victory over Doane by scores of 25-23, 25-18, 25-22.
Kristin Predajna (SR/Fishers, Ind.) had a team-high nine kills in the victory with a .444 attack percentage. She contributed defensively with one solo block and two block assists. Bianca Cifaldi (JR/Itasca, Ill.) finished with seven kills while Morgan Miller (SO/Goshen, Ind.), Kylie Porter, and Tay Thomas all added five kills. Emily Workman (SO/Tinley Park, Ill.) assisted on 18 kills while Katey Holler (SR/Marion, Ohio) had 12.
Cifaldi contributed two solo blocks and one block assist as the Wildcats finished with seven blocks in all. Ashlen Buck (JR/Brazil, Ind.) earned 11 digs and Banner Rodgers (SO/Carrollton, Texas) and Holler each amassed six.
Indiana Wesleyan completed the Friday sweep with a top-25 victory over Dordt. IWU won in three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-17, 25-20.
Predajna again led the Wildcats with 10 kills. Thomas earned nine kills and Remy Bucknor (JR/Euless, Texas) tallied eight kills. Holler totaled 19 assists and Workman ended the match with 14 assists. IWU served eight aces in the victory and were led by Buck with three and Kelly Cypher (SR/Libertyville, Ill.) with two.
Indiana Wesleyan blocked 10 Dordt kill attempts. Bucknor had seven block assists and Portera earned one solo block and two block assists. Buck completed the contest with 11 digs.
IWU has two final matches in Iowa on Saturday. Indiana Wesleyan battles Morningside (Iowa) at 10 a.m. and #RV Kansas Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
