Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Five Wildcats scored 15 or more points as top-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University men’s basketball claimed a 92-75 win on the road at Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio).
Indiana Wesleyan (24-2, 12-2 CL) shot 57.1-percent (32 of 56) from the field and 47.4-percent (9 of 19) from beyond the arc. IWU earned 26 assists on 32 field goals.
Zac Vandewater (SR/Warsaw, Ind.) scored a season-high 20 points. He was 6-of-8 overall and 4-of-6 from 3 point range. Lane Mahurin (SO/Rockville, Ind.) finished with 17 points and a career-high 11 assists while Bob Peters (SO/Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) contributed 16 points and 6 assists. DJ Bettinger (SR/Richfield, Ohio) added 15 points and 6 assists while Jacob Johnson (FR/Mooresville, Ind.) came off the bench to deliver 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
Trailing 19-16, Indiana Wesleyan used a 16-3 run to lead 32-21 with 9 minutes left in the opening half. The lead grew to as many as 13 points before Indiana Wesleyan took a 47-35 lead into halftime.
An early 7-0 spurt in the second half put Indiana Wesleyan ahead at 66-42. The 24 point lead was the largest of the game. Mount Vernon Nazarene would cut the deficit to 12 points late but was never able to make it a single digit deficit.
Indiana Wesleyan returns home to Luckey Arena on Tuesday as they host Grant County rival Taylor (Ind.) in Luckey Arena. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
