Box Score SPRING ARBOR, Mich. -- Spring Arbor (Mich.) shot just 28-percent from the field as No. 6-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University women’s basketball won 77-55 in Spring Arbor, Michigan.
The win moves Indiana Wesleyan to 24-4 overall and 15-1 in the Crossroads League. IWU clinched no worse than a share of the Crossroads League regular season championship as they lead Marian (Ind.) by two games with only two games left on the schedule.
The Wildcats can win the regular season championship outright with either one more win or one more Knights loss. The two teams finish the regular season against each other next Saturday in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Indiana Wesleyan (24-4, 15-1 CL) scored the first seven points of the game and 23 of the first 27 points. The lead grew to as many as 21 points in the first half before heading into halftime up 39-20.
Spring Arbor (7-20m 2-14 CL) opened the second half on a 10-2 run to narrow the deficit to 41-30. Indiana Wesleyan responded with a 14-2 run to increase their lead to 55-32. IWU had their largest lead of the game at 77-51 before Spring Arbor scored the game’s final four points for the 77-55 final score.
Katrina Blackmon (SR/Marion, Ind.) earned her third double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Chelsea Winner (SO/Maria Stein, Ohio) contributed 12 points and 7 rebounds, Carlee Cottrell (JR/West Bloomfield, Mich.) poured in 11 points, and Erika Isham (SR/Tekonsha, Mich.) came off the bench to supply 10 points.
The Wildcats shot 54-percent from the floor on 29-of-53 shooting and 78-percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, the Cougars were held to 28-percent shooting as they hit on 17-of-59 shots. IWU forced 21 SAU turnovers and blocked 7 of their shot attempts.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to Luckey Arena on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. as they host Goshen (Ind.). Senior Night festivities will follow the game.
