Volleyball Beats Huntington to Advance to Championship Match

MARION, Ind. -- No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball made quick work of Huntington (Ind.) to advance to the program’s sixth consecutive Crossroads League Tournament championship match.

What Went Down

  • Indiana Wesleyan had little issues in the Crossroads League Tournament Semifinals en route to the 3-0 victory.
  • The Wildcats ended the night with 50 kills and a .279 attack percentage while the Foresters were limited to just 18 kills and a .038 attack percentage. IWU had more kills in the first set (22) than HU had the entire match.
  • Bianca Cifaldi (JR/Itasca, Ill.) earned a match-high 15 kills on 29 attempts. The 15 kills is the second most for Cifaldi this season.
  • Sarah Collicott (JR/West Lafayette, Ind.) tallied 12 kills on Wednesday. That is the second most she has had this year.
  • Katey Holler (SR/Marion, Ohio) earned 31 assists and Emily Workman (SO/Tinley Park, Ill.) added 16 more.
  • Ashlen Buck (JR/Brazil, Ind.) totaled a match-best 16 digs. Lindsay Rogan (JR/Champaign, Ill.) added 11 digs and Banner Rodgers (SO/Carrollton, Texas) had 10 digs as Indiana Wesleyan had 66 in all.
  • The Wildcats ended the match with three blocks. Kylie Portera (JR/Lake in the Hills, Ill.) figured in each of them with two solo blocks and one block assists.

  • “We were so ready to play. I can feel it when I go into pregame and we are focused and determined not to end this journey. I could see it, I could feel it. They were self-motivated and no one needed to say anything to them. That’s where our practices had been all week. We were 100-percent all in.”

  • IWU head coach Candace Moats has led the Wildcats to 11 Crossroads League Tournament championships in 13 seasons. Indiana Wesleyan has won four straight.
  • Moats improves to 37-1 all-time at Indiana Wesleyan in the Crossroads League Tournament.

  • Indiana Wesleyan travels to Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday for the Crossroads League Tournament Championship. The match begins at 8 p.m. The two teams tied for the regular season championship with 17-1 records.
