Box Score WINONA LAKE, Ind. -- Grace (Ind.) won the first two sets on Wednesday night in Winona Lake, Indiana but No. 23 Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball won the final three sets to claim a 3-2 come-from-behind victory.
“Tonight was a battle of the heart,” said Wildcat head coach Candace Moats. “I was so proud of the girls when they were down 2-0 and match point in the third, but the girls kept their composure and stormed through the match.”
The Lancers opened the night with wins of 25-15 and 25-21. But the Wildcats fended off three match points in game three and won 27-25 and went on to wins of 25-16 and 15-11 to earn the hard fought 3-2 Crossroads League victory.
“We definitely put ourselves in a hard situation but the fight I saw continues to encourage all of us that we have something special going on with this team,” continued Moats. “Throughout the night several key players stepped up and refused to lose. All I can say is what an effort.”
Sarah Collicott (JR/West Lafayette, Ind.) had a career night with 19 kills and a .486 hitting percentage. Her previous best was 15 kills in her first career match in 2013 and her season high was 11.
Morgan Miller (SO/Goshen, Ind.) added 14 kills and one block assist while Kristin Predajna (SR/Fishers, Ind.) totaled 10 kills and two block assists. Bianca Cifaldi (JR/Itasca, Ill.) contributed nine kills in addition to one solo block and three block assists and Remy Bucknor (JR/Euless, Texas) amassed nine kills and three block assists.
Katey Holler (SR/Marion, Ohio) had 30 assists and 12 digs and Emily Workman (SO/Tinley Park, Ill.) tallied 28 assists and nine digs. Kelly Cypher (SR/Libertyville, Ill.) served a pair of aces while Ashlen Buck (JR/Brazil, Ind.) earned 30 digs, Lindsay Rogan (JR/Champaign, Ill.) had 21 digs, and Banner Rodgers (SO/Carrollton, Texas) finished with 19 digs.
Indiana Wesleyan (22-5, 13-1 CL) competes this weekend at the Boneyard Brawl hosted by Georgetown (Ky.) in Georgetown, Kentucky. Indiana Wesleyan plays four matches covering Friday and Saturday which includes contests vs. No. 5 Columbia and No. 18 Georgetown.
