Box Score 2 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Following two wins on Friday night at the Davenport Invitational the Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball team lost both games on Saturday in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
#RV Grand View (Iowa) won the first match during the morning session by a 3-1 score and host Davenport (Mich.) capped the invitational with a 3-0 victory over IWU. Indiana Wesleyan is now 18-5 on the season.
"Today we saw some really tough competition and it is giving us a bench mark for where to reach as we move through the rest of our season," said IWU head coach Candace Moats. "We need to do some things better but our heart is always all out. Today made us stronger."
In the morning contest with Grand View, Indiana Wesleyan jumped out to an early lead before Grand View responded with wins in the next three games to win 3-1. Grand View won by scores of 19-25, 25-20, 25-15, 29-27.
Remy Bucknor (JR/Euless, Texas) led the Wildcats with 11 kills and three block assists. Kylie Portera (JR/Lake in the Hills, Ill.) added 10 kills and two block assists while Bianca Cifaldi (JR/Itasca, Ill.) and Morgan Miller (SO/Goshen, Ind.) each finished with seven kills. Emily Workman (SO/Tinley Park, Ill.) contributed 24 assist and three aces and Katey Holler (SR/Marion, Ohio) tallied 20 assists. Ashlen Buck (JR/Brazil, Ind.) led all players with 15 digs in the match while Kelly Cypher (SR/Libertyville, Ill.) had nine and Workman and Lindsay Rogan (JR/Champaign, Ill.) each had eight.
In the afternoon, Indiana Wesleyan fell to the host team in Davenport. The Panthers won by scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-20.
Miller had a team-high eight kills while Cifaldi and Bucknor each had six kills. Workman assisted on 20 kills and Holler had 14 assists. Workman and Banner Rodgers (SO/Carrollton, Texas) each served one ace. Buck collected 10 digs and Bucknor totaled one solo block and three block assists.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to Crossroads League play on Wednesday. Indiana Wesleyan travels to Spring Arbor (Mich.) for a 7 p.m. match time.
