Box Score MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Carlee Cottrell (JR/West Bloomfield, Mich.) and a hot-shooting Indiana Wesleyan University women’s basketball team defeated host Bethel (Ind.) on Saturday by an 87-59 margin in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Cottrell drilled 6-of-10 3-point attempts to lead all players with 20 points. Indiana Wesleyan shot 60.4-percent (32 of 53) as a team and 61.1-percent (11 of 18) from 3-point range.
Indiana Wesleyan used a 21-4 run early in the game to gain a 29-12 lead midway through the opening half. IWU scored their 21 points in just six minutes.
Bethel narrowed the deficit to 11 points at halftime as Indiana Wesleyan hit the locker room with a 44-33 advantage. BC then closed the gap to six points at 44-38 with the first five points of the second half. But Indiana Wesleyan scored the next eight points to lead 52-38.
The Wildcats led 58-48 midway through the half when they went on a 14-0 run to extend the lead to 24 points at 72-48. The lead remained over 20 points the rest of the way en route to the 87-59 point victory.
Emma Stahl (SR/Elkhart, Ind.) joined Cottrell as the only other Wildcat with double digit points. Stahl had 13 points, 9 assists, and 3 steals. Katrina Blackmon (SR/Marion, Ind.) finished with eight points and six assists while Chelsea Winner (SO/Maria Stein, Ohio) and Kelsey Key (SO/Anderson, Ind.) also scored eight points. IWU earned 24 assists on 32 made field goals.
Bethel was limited to 36.4-percent on 20-of-55 shooting. BC committed 24 turnovers in the loss.
Indiana Wesleyan returns home on Wednesday as they host Grace (Ind.) in Luckey Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
