Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball team completed a weekend sweep in northern Indiana today with a 3-1 win at Goshen. IWU defeated Bethel (Ind.) in Mishawaka, Indiana last night.
Goshen won the opening game of the match 25-20 before Indiana Wesleyan won the final three by scores of 25-14, 25-23, 28-26. The 11th consecutive win for Indiana Wesleyan improves their record to 12-3 with a 7-0 Crossroads League mark. Goshen drops to 6-7 overall and 1-4 in league play.
“I want to give credit to an outstanding performance by Goshen,” said IWU head coach Candace Moats. “They required us to be more disciplined and more creative with our offensive shots. I definitely feel this game helps us grow and will continue our development.”
Remy Bucknor (SO/Euless, Texas) and Kylie Portera (SO/Lake in the Hills, Ill.) each had huge efforts on Saturday to help Indiana Wesleyan win. Bucknor had a match-high 16 kills with a .542 hitting percentage while Portera added 15 kills and a .636 hitting percentage. Portera also had one solo block and five block assists.
Ashlen Buck (SO/Brazil, Ind.) earned a high of 16 digs while Katey Holler (JR/Marion, Ohio) contributed 22 assists, two aces, and 10 digs. Bianca Cifaldi (SO/Itasca, Ill.) finished with five block assists and Emily Workman (FR/Tinley Park, Ill.) assisted on 18 kills. Morgan Miller (FR/Goshen, Ind.) was the third Wildcat with double digit kills as she had 12.
Indiana Wesleyan continues their string of road contests as their next match is at 7 p.m. on Friday night at Marian in Indianapolis, Indiana.
