Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A late goal by Aquinas (Mich.) was the only score of the match as the host defeated Indiana Wesleyan University women’s soccer 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The scoreless contest lasted for more than 85 minutes until Leann Latsch scored the only goal of the day in the 86th minute to give Aquinas the 1-0 victory.
The Saints outshot the Wildcats 14-8 in the match and held a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal. Wildcat keeper Megan Weiss (FR/Lexington, Ohio) was busy in net as she made eight saves. Weiss collected five saves in the opening half and three more in the second half.
Kerry Devney (JR/Brownsburg, Ind.) and Jordan Harris (JR/Reidsville, N.C.) each fired off a shot on goal for Indiana Wesleyan. Kaitlyn Heckaman (FR/Nappanee, Ind.) led the team with two shot attempts.
Aquinas improves to 6-1-1 this season while Indiana Wesleyan drops to 1-7-0.
Indiana Wesleyan opens the Crossroads League scheduled next Saturday at 7 p.m. as IWU travels to Winona Lake, Indiana to battle Grace.
