Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Indiana Wesleyan University women’s soccer competed in their first road contest of the year on Saturday night and suffered a 3-1 defeat to Campbellsville (Ky.) in Campbellsville, Kentucky.
The Tigers scored the first two goals of the match just two minutes apart. Devon Burnside scored the first goal of the night in the 30th minute and Madison Ratchford added a second goal in the 32nd minute.
Campbellsville took the 2-0 lead into halftime. CU outshot Indiana Wesleyan 6-2 in the opening half and held a 2-1 advantage in shots on goal.
The Tigers continued to build their lead early in the second half. Mhairi Fyfe scored the goal for the Tigers to give them a 3-0 lead in the 55th minute. The Wildcats quickly struck after the Fyfe goal less than one minute later. Jordan Harris (JR/Reidsville, N.C.) answered with her first goal of the season 51 seconds later as IWU trailed 3-1.
The Harris goal was the final score of the match as Campbellsville held a 7-5 advantage in shots during the second half and each team put four shots on goal. Overall, Campbellsville had a 13-7 shot advantage.
Indiana Wesleyan returns home for their next match at 7 p.m. on Tuesday vs. No. 7-ranked Davenport (Mich.) at Wildcat Field.
