Box Score 2 MARION, Ind. -- No. 20-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball won both of their matches on Saturday to complete the weekend unbeaten at the IWU Invitational held in Luckey Arena.
Indiana Wesleyan defeated both Rio Grande (Ohio) and Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) today by 3-0 scores. IWU did not drop a single set in the four weekend matches. Indiana Wesleyan beat Rio Grande in their first match on Saturday by a score of 25-17, 25-19, 25-13 and completed the invitational with a 25-20, 25-22, 25-22 victory against Cardinal Stritch.
Freshman Morgan Miller (FR/Goshen, Ind.) had a big day with 26 total kills and 14 digs. Miller opened with a solid eight kill performance with 11 digs in the opening match with Rio Grande. She completed the invitational with a match-high 18 kills against Cardinal Stritch with a .326 hitting percentage. Miller nearly earned half the team kills in the finale as IWU had 40 altogether.
In the match with Rio Grande, Alijah Mulitauopele (SR/Colorado Springs, Colo.) led all players with 11 kills which included a .360 hitting percentage. Miller, Remy Bucknor (SO/Euless, Texas), and Bianca Cifaldi (SO/Itasca, Ill.) each contributed eight kills. Kelly Cypher (JR/Libertyville, Ill.) earned a match-best 13 digs while Katey Holler (JR/Marion, Ohio) finished with the most assists with 24. Bucknor and Kristin Predajna (JR/Fishers, Ind.) each had one solo block as the team finished with three overall.
Against Cardinal Stritch, Bucknor contributed six kills while Cifaldi and Mulitauopele each added five. Holler had a 22 assist, 16 dig performance while Ashlen Buck (SO/Brazil, Ind.) chipped in 13 more digs from the libero position. The Wildcats blocked nine Wolves shots in the match and Bucknor was a huge part in that. She finished with two solo blocks and seven block assists.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 5-3 on the season and heads into Crossroads League play this week. IWU opens on the road at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night at Spring Arbor (Mich.).
