Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University softball traveled to Goshen (Ind.) today to play the final five innings of a suspended game. IWU pulled out the 5-2 victory behind the heroics of Jessica Hull (SR/South Bend, IN).
The doubleheader started on April 16 and Indiana Wesleyan won the first game 8-5 in 10 innings. The second game was 0-0 after two innings of play before it was suspended due to darkness.
The Wildcats struck first today with three runs in the fourth inning. Hull produced the big hit with a 3-run home run. The Maple Leafs got one run back in the home half of the inning as the Wildcats led 3-1 after four innings.
IWU stretched the lead to 5-1 in the sixth inning with a pair of runs. Hull again showcased her power with a 2-run home run to center field on the first pitch of the at bat. Goshen managed one more run in the seventh inning but it was not enough as IWU won 5-2.
Hull finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs and five RBI. She was also the winning pitcher as she surrendered two runs on four hits in 4.2 innings. She walked two and struck out six.
Indiana Wesleyan plays again tomorrow at Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio). First pitch will be at 3 p.m.
