Box Score 2 TUCSON, Ariz. -- Indiana Wesleyan University softball played three games on Wednesday at the Tucson Invitational in Tucson, Arizona. IWU has now played seven games during the Spring Break Trip out west.
Indiana Wesleyan lost their first game of the day by a 3-1 score to Viterbo (Wis.). IWU rebounded with a 10-5 victory over Ashford (Iowa) and a 6-2 win against Michigan-Dearborn in the final game Wednesday.
Gabby McIntire (SR, Logansport, IN) suffered a tough loss on the mound in the opening game vs. Viterbo. She allowed two earned runs in the loss. Emily Sell (SR, Clinton, MI) reached base three times with a pair of hits and a walk. Sell scored the only IWU run in the game. Marissa French (SR, Crawfordsville, IN) ripped a double as Indiana Wesleyan tallied seven hits in defeat.
Janessa Guevara (SO, Lathrop, CA) pitched a complete game to earn the win for the Wildcats against Ashford. She was backed by a potent offense which was led by French. She was 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run, 4 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Sara Kreitzer (FR, Ashland, OH) was 2-for-4, McIntire was 2-for-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored, and Gabby Bogear (SO, Sacramento, CA) had a single, two walks, and two runs. Sam Hemming (JR, Russiaville, IN) provided a home run.
The Wildcats received another strong pitching effort in the final game Wednesday from Jessica Hull (SR, South Bend, IN). She allowed just one earned run in a complete game effort. Bogear and French were each 2-for-4 at the plate while French tallied an RBI and two runs. Melanie Ypya (JR, Collinsville, IL) and Amanda Brunner (SO, Miamisburg, OH) each collected one hit.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 6-5 on the season.
