Box Score MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball won their final regular season match on Saturday evening by a 3-1 score over Grace (Ind.) on Senior Night in Luckey Arena.
Indiana Wesleyan won by scores of 25-20, 26-24, 15-25, 27-25. IWU was forced to come from behind late in games two and four to earn the 3-1 victory. IWU improves to 29-7 this season and 17-1 in Crossroads League play. Grace drops to 24-9 and 13-4 in league play.
Indiana Wesleyan trailed 21-16 in the second game and scored 10 of the last 13 points to win 26-24 and take a 2-0 match lead. Grace avoided the sweep with a game three win and the Lancers then led 22-18 in the fourth set. Grace held game point twice in an attempt to even the match but Indiana Wesleyan fended off Grace both times and pulled out the 27-25 game four win to win the match 3-1.
The Wildcats’ lone senior, Alijah Mulitauopele (SR/Colorado Springs, Colo.), shined on Senior Night. The Colorado Springs native finished the night with a match-best 16 kills. Morgan Miller (FR/Goshen, Ind.) added 12 kills, Bianca Cifaldi (SO/Itasca, Ill.) earned 11, and Remy Bucknor (SO/Euless, Texas) had nine. Katey Holler (JR/Marion, Ohio) passed out 33 assists while Emily Workman (FR/Tinley Park, Ill.) added 16.
Four Wildcats had double digit digs led by Banner Rodgers (FR/Carrollton, Texas) with 15. Ashlen Buck (SO/Brazil, Ind.) finished with 13, Kelly Cypher (JR/Libertyville, Ill.) collected 12, and Holler had 11. Kylie Portera (SO/Lake in the Hills, Ill.) had a match-high three block assists.
Indiana Wesleyan will have 10 days off before their next competition. IWU will host a Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinal match at 7 p.m. on November 11 in Luckey Arena. Indiana Wesleyan is the No. 1-seed in the tournament and has home court advantage throughout tournament play.
