Box Score MARION, Ind. -- No. 20-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball has clinched the Crossroads League regular season championship tonight as they beat visiting Marian 3-0 in Luckey Arena.
Indiana Wesleyan (28-7) improves to 16-1 in league play and clinched the regular season title later in the evening when Bethel (Ind.) defeated Grace (Ind.) 3-2 in Mishawaka, Indiana. Grace trailed Indiana Wesleyan by one game prior to play on Friday. IWU and Grace play tomorrow night in the final regular season match of the season for the Wildcats.
The Crossroads League championship is the seventh in IWU program history. Indiana Wesleyan has now won the league title for three straight seasons.
Remy Bucknor (SO/Euless, Texas) led the Wildcats on Friday with 10 kills on 18 chances for a .500 hitting percentage. Alijah Mulitauopele (SR/Colorado Springs, Colo.) also had 10 kills, Morgan Miller (FR/Goshen, Ind.) added nine, and Kylie Portera (SO/Lake in the Hills, Ill.) and Bianca Cifaldi (SO/Itasca, Ill.) each contributed seven. Katey Holler (JR/Marion, Ohio) assisted on 41 kills while Miller served three aces and Sam Elkin (SO/Ebensburg, Pa.) had two.
The Wildcats blocked eight Knights kill attempts. Portera had one solo and four block assists while Bucknor contributed one solo and two block assists. Ashlen Buck (SO/Brazil, Ind.) tallied a match best 17 digs and Banner Rodgers (FR/Carrollton, Texas) earned 11.
Indiana Wesleyan battles Grace (Ind.) tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in Luckey Arena. The match with Grace will be Senior Night for Alijah Mulitauopele.
