Box Score HUNTINGTON, Ind. -- No. 20-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball won in straight sets tonight at Huntington (Ind.) in Huntington, Indiana.
The Wildcats defeated the Foresters 25-23, 25-11, 25-21. The victory improves the IWU record to 27-7 on the season and 15-1 in the Crossroads League. The Foresters drop to 6-20 and 2-13 in the league.
Remy Bucknor (SO/Euless, Texas) and Morgan Miller (FR/Goshen, Ind.) paced the offensive attack for Indiana Wesleyan. Bucknor finished with a match-best 14 kills and had a .344 hitting percentage while Miller contributed 12 kills and a .276 hitting percentage. Kylie Portera (SO/Lake in the Hills, Ill.) earned nine kills with a .389 attack rating while Alijah Mulitauopele (SR/Colorado Springs, Colo.) earned eight kills. Katey Holler (JR/Marion, Ohio) assists on 41 kills while Miller served two of the five Indiana Wesleyan aces.
The Wildcats blocked four Forester kill attempts on Tuesday and were led by Bucknor with three block assists. Holler and Bianca Cifaldi (SO/Itasca, Ill.) each totaled two block assists. Banner Rodgers (FR/Carrollton, Texas) amassed a team-high 13 digs while Ashlen Buck (SO/Brazil, Ind.) added 12.
“We are excited to be on the home stretch of the regular season,” said IWU head coach Candace Moats. “The girls knew the game plan and did a great job of executing the plan. The coaching staff is proud of how hard the girls are working and are very proud of their new No. 20 ranking. They deserve it.”
Indiana Wesleyan now returns home to Luckey Arena for its final two regular season matches this weekend. IWU hosts Marian (Ind.) at 6 p.m. on Friday and Grace at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Indiana Wesleyan can clinch at least a share of the Crossroads League regular season championship with a victory vs. Marian on Friday.
