Box Score MARION, Ind. -- Katie Pannabecker (JR/Leo, Ind.) scored the game-winning goal with 2:55 left in the match as Indiana Wesleyan University women’s soccer defeated visiting Goshen (Ind.) 2-1 at Wildcat Field.
Pannabecker broke through the Maple Leaf defense but the keeper made the initial save. The ball bounced to the side where Pannabecker once again gained possession of the ball and put it to the back of the net for the victory.
Pannabecker also scored the first goal of the match in the 25th minute. Nicole Biggs (JR/Fort Wayne, Ind.) fed Pannabecker for the goal and the 1-0 Indiana Wesleyan lead. Biggs assisted on both goals for Indiana Wesleyan. Goshen hit the equalizer late in the first half. Anneliese Baer finished the play for Goshen in the 37th minute as the two teams went into halftime tied 1-1.
Indiana Wesleyan outshot Goshen 12-5 in the match and led 5-3 in shots on goal. Megan Weiss (FR/Lexington, Ohio) collected one save and Tracey Tiernon (SR/Fort Wayne, Ind.) made a great block to prevent a goal in the first half.
The victory moves Indiana Wesleyan to 4-9-0 this season and 3-2-0 in Crossroads League action. Goshen drops to 3-11-0 and remains winless in league play at 0-5-0.
The Wildcats return to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday with a Crossroads League match at Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
