Box Score UPLAND, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball lost for the first time since August 23 as Taylor (Ind.) defeated Indiana Wesleyan 3-0 tonight at Odle Arena in Upland, Indiana.
The Trojans won by scores of 25-18, 25-23, 25-20. The loss is the first this season for the Wildcats in Crossroads League play as IWU is now 14-4 overall and 9-1 in league play. Taylor improves to 15-4 and 7-3 in the Crossroads League.
“Taylor had an excellent game plan,” said IWU head coach Candace Moats. “They executed it very well. I felt like our girls fought tonight but were not as mentally prepared as we could have been.”
Kylie Portera (SO/Lake in the Hills, Ill.) and Bianca Cifaldi (SO/Itasca, Ill.) led Indiana Wesleyan with 11 kills each as Portera finished with a .360 hitting percentage. Katey Holler (JR/Marion, Ohio) finished with 18 assists and Emily Workman (FR/Tinley Park, Ill.) added 12. Ashlen Buck (SO/Brazil, Ind.) earned 21 digs while Remy Bucknor (SO/Euless, Texas) assisted on three blocks.
Indiana Wesleyan will next play in the IWU/TU Tournament this weekend. Indiana Wesleyan first battles Point Park (Pa.) at 5 p.m. on Friday at Taylor and then plays No. 14-ranked Georgetown (Ky.) at 6 p.m. during Homecoming at Luckey Arena.
