Box Score 2 ELGIN, Ill. -- Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball marched back into non-league action this weekend at the Judson-Robert Morris Tournament. Friday night Indiana Wesleyan played at Judson (Ill.) in Elgin, Illinois.
Indiana Wesleyan opened with a bang Friday evening by defeating Columbia (Mo.) by a 3-1 margin. IWU defeated last season’s NAIA national runner-up by scores of 24-26, 25-11, 25-20, 25-23.
Rae Brandes had a terrific performance against the No. 16-ranked program. Brandes finished the contest with 17 kills and 10 digs. Kristine Egebrecht added 10 kills with one solo and four block assists while Kristin Predajna chipped in with eight kills.
Defensively, Rebecca Brandes amassed 23 digs and 33 receptions. The team totaled nine blocks led by Egebrecht and Alijah Mulitauopele, who had one solo block plus three assists.
Indiana Wesleyan kept the momentum going in the nightcap against host Judson during their Homecoming night. IWU easily defeated Judson by scores of 25-17, 25-16, 25-12.
Egebrecht tallied 16 kills, Brandes added 11, and Predajna once again had eight. Katey Holler earned 38 assists Rebecca Brandes led the team with 23 digs and Raina Troyer had 12. Mulitauopele paced the team with four block assists.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 15-4 this season and has now won six straight contests and 13 of their last 14. Columbia is 9-3 after the first match while Judson drops to 5-14.
The Wildcats will now play twice in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday. IWU battles Trinity Christian (Ill.) at 12 p.m. and host Robert Morris (Ill.) at 4:30 p.m. ET to complete the tournament.
