Box Score HUNTINGTON, Ind. -- Two first half goals would account for all the scoring as host Huntington (Ind.) handed Indiana Wesleyan University women’s soccer its first Crossroads League loss of the season.
The Foresters scored goals in the 21st minute and the 35th minute to gain a 2-0 lead in the first half. HU outshot IWU 8-3 in the half and held a slim 4-3 advantage in shots on goal.
The Indiana Wesleyan defensive effort really took center stage during the final 45 minutes of the match. Indiana Wesleyan limited Huntington to a single shot and it was not on target. IWU managed four shots in the half with three of them on goal. Yet Huntington keeper Caitlin Adams made the saves to earn the shutout with six saves in all.
The Wildcats drop their record to 4-4-1 overall in 2013 and 1-1-0 in Crossroads League contests. The Foresters improve to 3-7-0 on the season and build their league mark to 2-0-0.
Indiana Wesleyan returns home to Wildcat Field for their next contest at 7 p.m. on Friday. IWU hosts Goshen (Ind.) in Crossroads League play.
