Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- For the second consecutive evening the Indiana Wesleyan University women’s soccer team failed to score against top competition in the NAIA at the LWC Classic in Columbia, Kentucky.
Indiana Wesleyan lost 4-0 tonight to No. 14-ranked Martin Methodist. IWU also lost 4-0 on Friday night to NAIA No. 1-ranked and defending national champion Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).
Martin Methodist did all their damage in a dominating first half. The Red Hawks scored four goals in the first 45 minutes as they outshot the Wildcats 9-0. Four different Red Hawks scored in a 36 minute span. Kelsey Powell was in goal for Indiana Wesleyan during the first half and saw eight shots on goal, making four saves.
Indiana Wesleyan played a more even second half with Martin Methodist as neither team could score. Rachel Fulkerson was in net for Indiana Wesleyan during the half and made saves on all five shots on goal. Martin Methodist outshot Indiana Wesleyan 7-4 in the period.
The Wildcats fall to 3-2-1 this season while the Red Hawks improve to 4-1-0.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to Wildcat Field next week at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. IWU will host Northwestern Ohio in non-conference action.
