Box Score MARION, Ind. -- No. 20-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball got back on track after last night’s setback with a 3-0 victory against Goshen (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon in Luckey Arena.
Bethel (Ind.) brought a close to the Indiana Wesleyan seven match win streak on Friday night but Indiana Wesleyan looks to start another win streak after today’s shutout of Goshen. Indiana Wesleyan won in three sets by scores of 25-14, 25-10, 25-23.
“We came out with really strong energy and I think that changed from how we played last night,” said junior Alijah Mulitauopele. “The girls really wanted to play together and we played well.”
Mulitauopele and freshman Remy Bucknor led all players with eight kills apiece. Mulitauopele finished with a .538 kill percentage and Bucknor was close behind at .412. Senior Rae Brandes added seven kills and nine digs while nine different Wildcats had at least one kill.
Sophomore Katey Holler earned 34 assists in the win and Indiana Wesleyan served six aces during the afternoon. Rae Brandes and Kristine Egebrecht each had two aces while Raina Troyer and Rebecca Brandes each had one. Rebecca Brandes would also finish with a match-best 12 digs and Holler totaled 11.
The Wildcats improve to 10-4 overall and 5-1 in Crossroads League play. The Maple Leafs drop to 5-7 and 0-4 in league play.
No. 20-ranked Indiana Wesleyan will next play at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in a Crossroads League contest at Huntington (Ind.).
