LAKE WALES, Fla. -- No. 24 Indiana Wesleyan University softball went into Lake Wales, Florida and won both ends of a doubleheader versus host Warner (Fla.) University by scores of 10-1 and 5-3. Indiana Wesleyan is now 3-1 on their Spring Break trip.

In the opening game, Indiana Wesleyan scored in every inning but the third. Despite the consistent offense, Indiana Wesleyan did not score more than three runs in any inning en route to the 10-1 victory.

Indiana Wesleyan (7-2) quickly put two runs on the board in the first inning and tacked on one more in the second. After the scoreless third, Indiana Wesleyan scored seven runs over the final four innings and scored at least one run in each frame.

Seven Wildcats collected 10 hits in the win. Allison Bexell led the team with a 3-for-4 performance with a triple and a run scored. Gabby Bogear was the only other Wildcat with a multi-hit game as she was 2-for-3 with a one RBI, two runs scored, and one stolen base.

Tanna Hinthorne earned another win on the season in 6.0 innings of work. She allowed one run on a single hit with four walks and four strikeouts. Gabby McIntire pitched the last inning and surrendered one hit.

The second game was called after five innings due to darkness. Fortunately for Indiana Wesleyan, three runs in the fourth and fifth innings put IWU ahead 5-3 for the victory.

For the second straight game Indiana Wesleyan plated a pair of runs in the first inning. But this time Warner (7-4) responded with one in the first and two more in the third inning to take a 3-2 lead. Indiana Wesleyan got two of those runs back in the top of the fourth for a 4-3 lead. Hinthorne relieved Jessica Hull and pitched two scoreless innings for the Wildcats. IWU added one more in the fifth for the 5-3 final score.

Hull was credited with the victory. She gave up three runs on seven hits in 3.0 innings. Hinthorne allowed just one hit in 2.0 innings to collect the save.

Hull was the only Wildcat with multiple hits in the game that saw Warner outhit Indiana Wesleyan 8-6. Hull finished 2-for-2 and she reached base a third time by being hit by a pitch. Bexell contributed a 1-for-3 game with one RBI and one run scored and she hit her second triple of the afternoon.

Indiana Wesleyan next plays at noon tomorrow at Northwood (Fla.) University in West Palm Beach, Florida.
