Box Score WINONA LAKE, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball team is once again tied for first place in the Crossroads League following a 3-1 victory at Grace (Ind.) in Winona Lake, Indiana.
The four set victory over Grace (17-11, 8-8 CL) coupled with a Saint Francis (Ind.) 3-2 upset of Bethel (Ind.) has created a tie atop the league standings. Indiana Wesleyan and Bethel are each 14-2 in Crossroads League play with two matches remaining.
Indiana Wesleyan (23-6) was able to move into the tie with the road victory at Grace today by scores of 25-19, 27-29, 25-14, 25-13.
“The girls come into the gym and everybody is playing their best game against us,” said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Candace Moats. “But the girls knew they had it today and they said we’re going to really execute at the level we hadn’t and we’re going to be confident. That was a really neat thing to see.”
Rae Brandes tied a career-high with 23 kills this afternoon and maintained a .388 hitting percentage. She also accomplished 23 kills last season in a match with Lee (Tenn.). Brandes had a double-double as she had 11 digs.
Kristin Predajna also contributed a career-best effort with 18 kills with a .536 hitting percentage. Her previous best was a 15 kill performance against Campbellsville earlier this month.
Indiana Wesleyan finished with eight team blocks as Remy Bucknor assisted on all eight. Five Wildcats had double digit digs led by Rebecca Brandes with 25. Besides the Brandes twins, Raina Troyer, Katey Holler, and Lindsay Rogan all had 10 digs. Holler joined Brandes with a double-double as she had 52 assists to go along with her 10 digs.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to Luckey Arena for their next contest which will be against Huntington (Ind.) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
