Box Score SPRING ARBOR, Mich. -- No. 8-ranked Spring Arbor (Mich.) scored four unanswered goals as the Indiana Wesleyan University women’s soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision tonight in Spring Arbor, Michigan.
Nicole Biggs scored the game’s first goal in the 19th minute for the early 1-0 lead for the Wildcats. Paige LaBonne was credited with the assist.
That would be all the scoring Indiana Wesleyan would get tonight as Spring Arbor scored the next four goals. The first of those came less than six minutes after the Indiana Wesleyan goal in the 25th minute. Spring Arbor scored two late goals in the first half with scores in the 41st and 44th minutes to take a 3-1 lead into halftime.
Karly Linton recorded the only goal of the second half to give the Cougars a 4-1 advantage in the 54th minute. That goal gave Linton a hat trick on the evening.
Rachel Fulkerson played 75 minutes in net for Indiana Wesleyan and made 10 saves on 14 chances. Kelsey Powell finished the final 15 minutes in net and stopped all three shots she faced. Spring Arbor held a 30-5 shot advantage and a 19-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Spring Arbor wins the Crossroads League regular season championship with the win coupled with a Grace (Ind.) tie tonight. All teams in the league have one match remaining which will be played on Saturday. Indiana Wesleyan plays at Saint Francis (Ind.) with a 7 p.m. kickoff in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
