Box Score MARION, Ind. -- Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University supplied all Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball could handle on Saturday in the first match of the day at the IWU-Indiana Tech Crossover Tournament in Luckey Arena.
No. 10-ranked Indiana Wesleyan was forced to go to a decisive fifth game to collect their 12th straight victory and improve to 19-1 overall.
Indiana Wesleyan played from behind all match long as IWU trailed by one game on two different occasions. Indiana Wesleyan won the match by scores of 22-25, 25-14, 23-25, 28-26, 15-9. Olivet Nazarene (3-16) had Indiana Wesleyan on the brink in the fourth game, leading 24-21. But three straight IWU points tied the set 24-24 and Indiana Wesleyan scored four of the final six points.
Junior middle hitter Kristine Egebrecht ended the match with the second most kills in her career with 22. She set a new career-high on Wednesday with 23 at No. 18-ranked IU-East. Egebrecht hit .349 with three digs, one solo block, and two block assists. Senior outside hitter Rachel Quackenbush added 13 kills and nine digs while sophomore opposite hitter Alijah Mulitauopele contributed 10 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Senior setter Yui Iwase tallied a double-double with a season-high 55 assists and 11 digs.
The Wildcats had eight team blocks and were led in that category by freshman middle hitter Kristin Predajna. She had two solo blocks and two block assists. Junior libero Rebecca Brandes set a season-high in digs with 33.
Indiana Wesleyan plays again this afternoon in the NAIA Match of the Week versus No. 22-ranked Cornerstone (Mich.) University.
