Box Score 2 MARION, Ind. -- Kristine Egebrecht is off to what could be a stellar week. The junior middle hitter provided a career-high 23 kills Friday afternoon as No. 10-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball opened the Indiana Wesleyan-Indiana Tech Crossover Tournament with a 3-0 win over Aquinas (Mich.) College.
Egebrecht set a new career-high in kills on Friday less than 48 hours after tying her season high mark of 15 in a 3-1 win at No. 18-ranked IU-East. She set the new personal best mark on 41 attempts for a .512 hitting percentage. Egebrecht's previous career-high was 17 at Taylor last November.
If it wasn't Egebrecht with the kill for the Wildcats there was a good chance that is was senior outside hitter Rachel Quackenbush. She contributed 15 kills to help the Wildcat offense overwhelm Aquinas (4-7). Senior setter Yui Iwase 50 assists which is the third time this season she has hit that level. Iwase set a season-high 54 assists on Wednesday at IU-East.
Junior libero Rebecca Brandes earned a match-best 20 digs while freshman middle hitter Kristin Predajna added eight kills and a .400 kill percentage. Junior outside hitter Rae Brandes totaled six kills, 12 digs, and one solo block.
Indiana Wesleyan (17-1) plays for the second time later today against St. Xavier (Ill.) University, a team receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25 Poll. That match beings at approximately 6 p.m. in Luckey Arena.
