Box Score MARION, Ind. -- The first day of competition at the IWU/TU Crossover Tournament saw a workmanlike performance for Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball.
No. 9-ranked Indiana Wesleyan (5-0) ousted Indiana Tech in three sets by scores of 25-15, 25-15, 27-25. Indiana Tech (1-4) is receiving votes in the 2012 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top-25 Preseason Poll.
Sophomore middle blocker Kristine Egebrecht totaled a match-high 14 kills on the night with a .524 attack percentage while freshman middle blocker Kristin Predajna added 10 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. The pair in the middle helped Indiana Wesleyan secure a .343 hitting percentage as a team.
Senior Yui Iwase assisted on 37 kills and served one of the five Wildcat aces. Sophomore opposite hitter Alijah Mulitauopele earned a pair of aces while senior outside hitter Brooke Atwell and senior defensive specialist Jordan Sudzina each added one.
Defensively, junior libero Rebecca Brandes finished a match-high 13 digs and Atwell added seven. Indiana Wesleyan blocked three shots, led by a pair of block assists from Predajna.
Indiana Wesleyan will see the court twice tomorrow in the final day of the Crossover Tournament, both times against teams receiving votes. Indiana Wesleyan first plays Robert Morris (Ill.) College at 11 a.m. and finishes against Davenport (Mich.) University at 2 p.m.
