Box Score 2 MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University softball got the job done against Grant County rival Taylor (Ind.) University on Tuesday afternoon but had to wait until the end of both games to come out victorious in a doubleheader sweep at Wildcat Field.
The Wildcats scored three runs in the sixth inning to get past the Trojans 5-3 in Game 1 and then used a bases loaded walk in the seventh inning of Game 2 for the 5-4 victory and the sweep.
In Game 1, Indiana Wesleyan jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning. First baseman Jessica Hull and leftfielder Sam Hemming each contributed RBI singles for the early advantage. But a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth put Taylor in the lead 3-2.
The score remained 3-2 until the bottom of the sixth with time running out for the Wildcats. Shortstop Emily Sell singled home a run to knot the score 3-3. The go-ahead run scored on a throwing error and IWU tacked on one more with a single through the hole by third baseman Bryttany Van Vliet.

Forman allowed three runs on five hits and no walks in seven innings on the mound. She struck out eight in the complete game performance.
After Taylor scored one run in the top of the first in Game 2, Indiana Wesleyan would quickly tie it when designated player Dana Runyan hit into a fielder's choice that allowed centerfielder Tamara Davis to score.
The score was 2-2 as Indiana Wesleyan came to bat in the fourth. Davis drilled an inside-the-park home run that also scored Kristina Ross who was at second base. The home run gave Indiana Wesleyan a 4-2 advantage.
But the Trojans would tie the score 4-4 in the top of the sixth inning. The two runs came on two hits and two Wildcat errors.
With the scored all tied in the seventh, Indiana Wesleyan opened the bottom of the inning with the first two batters recording outs. But an error, a hit batsman, and a bunt single loaded the bases.
