Box Score 2 ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University softball team traveled up north and won both ends of a doubleheader with University of Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats claimed the doubleheader sweep by scores of 6-2 and 9-2. The pair of wins improves the IWU win streak to 10 in a row. The Wildcats are now 16-4 on the season while the Wolves drop to 7-15.
Indiana Wesleyan had the opportunity to play at the Wilpon Complex at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Following a cancelation due to a conflict with Aquinas (Mich.) College, Indiana Wesleyan was able to find Michigan-Dearborn as a late substitution. UMD was unable to play at their normal home field but was able to secure the Wilpon Complex at UM.
Highlighting the afternoon sweep was the pitching performances of senior Abbie Forman and sophomore Jessica Hull. Each allowed two runs and both earned a win in Michigan. Junior catcher Katie Smith supplied the fireworks in the second game with a home run.
Indiana Wesleyan will open its home schedule this upcoming weekend with a tournament at Wildcat Field. IWU will play University of Saint Francis (Ill.) at 1 p.m. and Trinity Christian (Ill.) College at 3 p.m. on the tournament's first day on Friday, March 23.
