Box Score MARION, Ind. -- No. 8-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball blew right by University of Saint Francis (Ind.) on Tuesday in the Crossroads League Tournament First Round held at Luckey Arena.
Top-seed Indiana Wesleyan won 3-0 by scores of 25-13, 25-18, 25-12 over No. 8-seed Saint Francis. IWU will next play Thursday in the Crossroads League Tournament Semifinals and will host the winner of No. 4 Grace (Ind.) College and No. 5 Marian (Ind.) University.
Junior middle hitter Kristine Egebrecht paced Indiana Wesleyan with a match-high 13 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. She also assisted on four blocks and had five digs. Reigning Crossroads League Volleyball Player of the Week, senior outside hitter Rachel Quackenbush, finished with nine kills and six digs.
Senior setter Yui Iwase continues to lead the offense as she earned 32 assists in the three game sweep. Junior libero Rebecca Brandes added a game-best 20 digs and was the only player on either side with double digit digs.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 33-2 and remains the No. 8-ranked team in the NAIA when the new Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top-25 Poll was released just before game time. There was very little movement in the poll as all 25 teams are the same as last week and the top-16 teams did not move. IWU did earn more points this week with 511 and is just 12 points behind No. 7 The Master's (Calif.) College.
