Box Score UPLAND, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball went to Upland and won 3-0 over county rival Taylor (Ind.) University for their 17th consecutive win in Crossroads League play.
The Wildcats won by scores of 25-12, 25-21, 25-22 to finish the 2012 regular season at 32-2 and 17-1 in league play. IWU wins the Crossroads League regular season title by four games over second place Taylor who is 13-5.
"This was the first time IWU has had just one loss in the league since we've gone to double round robin," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Candace Moats. "So I think it's a great feat to win 17 matches in this league and beating Taylor is a great finish for our regular season."
Junior middle hitter Kristine Egebrecht and senior outside hitter Rachel Quackenbush were the only two players Friday to end the match in double digit kills. Each ended the night with 11 kills as Egebrecht hit .320 with two block assists while Quackenbush tallied 11 digs.
Three other Wildcats tallied double digit digs along with Quackenbush. Junior libero Rebecca Brandes had a team-leading 13, junior outside hitter Rae Brandes had 12, and senior setter Yui Iwase ended with 11. Iwase also led all players on Friday with 35 assists.
"I was really proud of the girls tonight," added Moats. "They kept their poise in a very energetic environment."
Indiana Wesleyan advances to postseason play for the rest of the year and that begins on Tuesday night. IWU is the top-seed in the Crossroads League Tournament and will host No. 8-seed University of Saint Francis (Ind.) at 7 p.m. in Luckey Arena.
