Box Score MARION, Ind. -- No. 9-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball quickly put away visiting University of Saint Francis (Ind.) 3-0 tonight in Luckey Arena.
The Wildcats won by scores of 25-13, 25-11, 25-14 on Dig Pink - Cancer Awareness Night. Cancer Services of Grant County was present in Luckey Arena with a booth full of information, shirts, and brochures. The Wildcats were also decked out in pink uniforms that were given to them by Cancer Services of Grant County.
On the court, Indiana Wesleyan was never threatened by Saint Francis (10-18, 4-11 CL) in collecting the team's 19th consecutive victory to improve to 26-1 on the season and 14-1 in Crossroads League play. IWU clinches at least a share of the regular season title and can clinch the outright title tomorrow at home.
All 14 Wildcats played on Friday and 13 of them saw the floor for at least two games. IWU hit .435 against Saint Francis to finish over .400 hitting as a team for the second consecutive match and third time this season. Eight Wildcats had at least two kills and seven of them had hitting percentages of .333 or better.
"Tonight, I felt like this was the most unified effort that 14 people could put together as a team," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Candace Moats. "The play never dipped no matter who was in. I'm so proud of how these girls want to finish and I'm excited to see where this journey is going to end."
Senior outside hitter Rachel Quackenbush, junior middle hitter Kristine Egebrecht, and sophomore opposite hitter Alijah Mulitauopele continued their stellar play. Quackenbush led all players with 13 kills and produced a .500 hitting percentage, Egebrecht totaled eight kills with a .667 attacking percentage along with three block assists, and Mulitauopele contributed seven kills with a .455 hitting percentage in addition to three aces.
Junior outside hitter Rae Brandes collected five kills and a .714 kill percentage and her twin sister Rebecca Brandes amassed the most digs with 13. Senior setter Yui Iwase earned 27 assists while freshman setter Katey Holler added 12.
Indiana Wesleyan turns right around for another home match tomorrow at 3 p.m. versus Marian (Ind.) University. IWU will be celebrating Senior Day on Saturday for Brooke Atwell, Yui Iwase, Rachel Quackenbush, and Jordan Sudzina.
