MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- September 5 was the last time the No. 9-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball team lost a match.

The Wildcats extended their winning streak to 17 straight on Friday evening with a convincing 3-0 victory at Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) University in Mount Vernon, Ohio. The streak matches the longest win streak from a season ago that reached 17 before a loss in the NAIA National Championship Tournament.

Indiana Wesleyan won in three straight games by scores of 25-22, 25-19, 25-21. The win over Mount Vernon Nazarene is the second this season over the Cougars as IWU won the first meeting 3-0 on September 14 in Marion.

"It was a tough night for us because Mount Vernon was undefeated at home in Crossroads League games," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Candace Moats. "So it was neat to see them come together and realize that this was going to be the one time they lose at home."

Junior middle hitter Kristine Egebrecht had another memorable performance on Friday with 11 kills and a .647 attacking percentage. She also had four digs, three block assists, and two aces.

Junior outside hitter Rae Brandes matched Egebrecht for game-high honors with 11 kills. Brandes finished with a .313 kill percentage and nine digs. Senior outside hitter Rachel Quackenbush was the third Wildcat with double digit kills as she earned 10 while senior sophomore opposite hitter Alijah Mulitauopele and junior opposite hitter Shelby Newberry each contributed seven kills apiece.

Setting on Friday was the pair of senior Yui Iwase and freshman Katie Holler. Iwase assisted on a match-high 23 while Holler passed out 18 assists.

"It may not always be pretty looking but the girls know we are going to go after it and get it," stated Moats. "They are after a really high goal right now of winning this conference so it's really exciting to see them doing this. They are joining together in unity and getting stronger and stronger."

Indiana Wesleyan (24-1) has now built a two-match lead in the Crossroads League with five matches left to be played. Indiana Wesleyan currently sits at 12-1 in league play while Taylor (Ind.) University is second at 10-3.

Indiana Wesleyan returns home to Luckey Arena for three straight Crossroads League home matches. The first of those is at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17 against Huntington (Ind.) University on Cancer Awareness Night.
