Box Score 2 GOSHEN, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University and Goshen (Ind.) College took turns on Thursday winning mercy rule victories in softball action at Goshen, Indiana.
The Wildcats opened the Mid-Central College Conference games with a 9-0 win in five innings. The Maple Leafs evened the series with an 8-0 victory in six innings.
Indiana Wesleyan won the opener behind a complete game shutout from Abbie Forman. She scattered seven hits over five innings while striking out six and not walking a batter. Forman helped herself out at the plate going 1-for-1 with a walk, run and RBI.
All nine Wildcats in the starting lineup earned at least one hit in the win as IWU outhit Goshen 13-7. The Wildcats scored in all five innings.
Centerfielder Tamara Davis finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and designated player Dana Runyan had a 2-for-3 performance with two runs scored. Second baseman Gabby McIntire reached base three times going 2-for-2 with a walk. Third baseman Katie Hall contributed a 2-for-3 day at the dish with a stolen base and a run scored.
Goshen turned the table in the nightcap and outhit Indiana Wesleyan 14-4. GC also plated at least one run in five of the six innings.
McIntire was the pitcher of record for the Wildcats. She allowed three runs on four hits in one inning of work.
Davis, Runyan, shortstop Emily Sell and Forman all had singles to account for the IWU offense.
Indiana Wesleyan is now 12-10 on the season and 1-3 in MCC action. Goshen stands 7-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
The Wildcats continue their road trip and will drive from Goshen to Joliet, Illinois for a weekend tournament at University of Saint Francis (Ill.). IWU plays Judson (Ill.) University at 12:30 p.m. on Friday in addition to Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University at 4:30 p.m.
