KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Indiana
Wesleyan University softball had a big day in Kissimmee, Florida, winning three
games on Friday.
The Wildcats opened the day by beating Valley City State
(N.D.) University 11-0 in five innings. Junior Erin Moeller led team by batting
3-for-4 and recording four runs batted in. Sophomore Katie Smith was 2-for-3
and knocked home three runs. Junior Abbie Forman went the distance on the
mound, notching nine strikeouts in the process.
Indiana Wesleyan would ride its early momentum to an 8-0
victory over Emmanuel (Mass.) College in six innings. Sophomore Dana Runyan led
the offensive attack by going 2-for-2 with two runs batted in. Freshman pitcher
Gabby McIntire recorded her first win as a Wildcat.
IWU closed the day with a 3-2 win over Walsh (Ohio) University
in eight innings. Senior outfielder Katie Brummet's walk-off hit in the bottom
of the eighth inning scored junior Tamara Davis as the Wildcats completed the
three-game sweep of the day. Abbie Forman was dominant on the mound as she
struck out 15 batters to record the win.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 5-2 on their spring break trip
to Florida and stands at 5-6 on the season. The Wildcats will continue play
tomorrow as they take on Catholic (Washington D.C.) University and Trinity
Christian (Ill.) College.
