Box Score SPRING ARBOR, Mich. -- A two game skid has now proceeded a 19 game win streak as No. 6-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University men's basketball lost 82-73 Tuesday night at Spring Arbor (Mich.) University.
Poor free throw shooting and turnovers doomed the Wildcats as Indiana Wesleyan now holds just a one game lead in the Mid-Central College Conference over No. 13-ranked University of Saint Francis (Ind.). The two teams will meet in Marion on Saturday.
Indiana Wesleyan (22-5, 11-2 MCC) shot 48.0-percent (12 of 25) from the foul line and lost the turnover battle 17-to-9. IWU missed eight of their last 10 free throws in the game's final 10 minutes.
The Wildcats led 32-31 at the half and held a five point lead, 47-42, midway through the second half. But the Cougars (16-12, 8-6 MCC) exploded for 26 of the next 38 points to take a 68-59 advantage to earn the Senior Night victory.
Five Wildcats finished in double figures, led by freshman guard Jordan Weidner with 20 points. Sophomore forward Patrick Hopkins added 14 points and six rebounds while senior forward Will Hubertz finished with 11 points and nine boards. Sophomore guards George Jones IV and Aaron Martin each scored 10 points.
Indiana Wesleyan, playing without injured point guard Derrick Troyer, finished with single digit assists on Tuesday for the second straight game. IWU had just seven helpers in the loss with Weidner leading the team with only two.
The Wildcats shot 574-percent (27 of 47) on the night and 46.7-percent (7 of 15) from 3-point range.
Indiana Wesleyan will host Saint Francis at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 12 in Luckey Arena. The game will be a ?Black Out' and Wildcat fans are encouraged to wear black to support IWU.
