Box Score PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. -- No. 6-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University men's basketball ended their three game losing streak on Saturday with a convincing 79-61 win at Trinity Christian (Ill.) College in Palos Heights, Illinois.
Indiana Wesleyan turned a small 35-30 halftime advantage into an 18 point win by outscoring the host 44-31 in the second half.
Leading the way for the Wildcats were the big men down low in sophomore center Parker Stouffer and junior forward Patrick Hopkins. The duo combined for 37 points on 17-of-25 shooting (68.0-percent). Hopkins scored a team-high 20 points with six rebounds while Stouffer added 17 points and four boards.
Junior guard Aaron Martin was the only other Wildcat in double figures with 10 points. He hit 2-of-4 from 3-point range. Junior guard George Jones IV tallied nine points and seven rebounds while senior guard Derrick Troyer contributed eight points and three assists.
The Indiana Wesleyan offense has struggled during the three game losing streak, but came alive on Saturday. IWU shot 58.9-percent (33 of 56) from the floor with only 11 turnovers. Indiana Wesleyan also outrebounded Trinity Christian 36-24 as IWU grabbed 11 offensive boards.
Trinity Christian shot 46.5-percent (20 of 43) and shot well from outside at 40.9-percent (9 of 22).
Indiana Wesleyan will take a 12 day break for Christmas. IWU returns to action on Thursday, December 29 at the Hope (Mich.) College Tournament in Holland, Michigan. Indiana Wesleyan opens the tournament with a rematch against Grace Bible (Mich.) College on Thursday at 6 p.m.
