Box Score MARION, Ind. -- No. 2-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University men's basketball controlled the entire game Tuesday night in a 75-58 victory over visiting Marian (Ind.) University in the Mid-Central College Conference opener for both teams.
The Wildcats dominated play on both ends of floor. IWU shot a blistering 54.3-percent (25 of 46) from the field while holding the Knights to 40.7-percent (22 of 54) shooting. The loss for the Knights is their first of the season (5-1, 0-1 MCC).
Indiana Wesleyan (7-0, 1-0 MCC) did so despite zero points from two of its top four scorers on the season. Sophomore guard Jordan Weidner was inactive due to an injury and junior guard Aaron Martin was held scoreless in a foul stricken start which saw him play just 11 minutes. The pair has combined for 29.0 points per game this season.
The Wildcats received continued production from junior guard George Jones IV with 20 points and junior forward Patrick Hopkins with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
But Indiana Wesleyan boasted 37 points from players off the bench, including 10 from freshman forward Tyler Greathouse. Sophomore center Parker Stouffer returned from injury to add nine points and junior forward Taylor Schoen had six while freshman guard DJ Bettinger finished with five.
Indiana Wesleyan is off to a 7-0 start and will run head long into their third top-10 opponent next Tuesday. IWU travels to No. 9-ranked Grace (Ind.) College at 7 p.m. in Winona Lake, Indiana.
